Double-time

Japanese name
ダブルタイム

Double-time is playing that makes the rhythm feel twice as busy without changing the tempo.

How to use it

Play the hi-hat or the snare in finer subdivisions; it works as a way to raise anticipation in a build-up.

How it differs from related terms

It is a change in feel created by note subdivision, not a change of tempo.

Do not subdivide all the way down into the low end; limit which parts create the faster feel.
